Welcome to my web pages. Here I will attempt to share my thoughts on how to make IT, your life, your customers life and the life of the entire planet a little bit better! Sounds like a massive task, but all it takes is little steps. As I am a techie at heart, I'll probably post the occasional hint and tip here also! The pages and Blog will be constantly evolving, so please come back often!
So, a little about me then. My name is Billy, I graduated with a degree in Computer Science and have worked in IT for over 10 years. I currently work as an infrastructure consultant for Seric Systems based in Glasgow but I have also worked in development for a software house and a large financial company.
I've recently had a "Jerry Macguire" like moment of clarity. Like most of us have or will do at some time, I struggled with my life in an industry that was money focused but also recognised the importance of money in my life, to provide for those I care about and to provide a level of fun, so it's not all work. I was one of those people that was unhappy. Too much work, not enough money, etc etc. In my moment of clarity I realised that the proplem was not my job, my financial situation or the world at large, the problem was with my view of the situation. By changing my view I became happier. I want to show you how to do this too, so that you too will become happier and better at your job - and if enough of us can do this, we can change the world!
